Rosie and The Operator were out the door of the villa at 8.30 and driving towards Brantome, the Venice of the Dordogne, one and a half hours north of Sarlat.  We have been there before 12 years or so ago and loved the beauty of this laid back wee town, we were keen to revisit.

It was cold in the caves, it smelt musty and all light was gone in a matter of seconds as we trundled into the gloom, a light from the train lit our way making it very ghostly and eerie.  Sometimes we were in a narrow passageway, sometimes the light just disappeared into nothingness so you knew you were in a huge cavern.

Rosie and The Operator stood on our terrace in Sarlat la Caneda and fair welled the beautiful village that had been our hometown for the last seven days. We had a great time there and it was with a little regret The Operator trundled the bags up the road…yes, that is a main thoroughfare, to the car.
