Our criteria for picking Buenos Aires in Argentina as a destination for such a short trip was easy…the flight had to be direct and no longer that 12 hours so as not to waste time getting there.  Bonus, this is a  destination that is so European reminiscent…so close to home without the price tag of Europe. 

Rosie and the Operator are spending 14 days in Buenos Aires, Argentina!  A country we have never visited before and yet we ask ourselves why has this country never been on our radar?

Rosie and The Operator are off to visit La Boca a working-class area with a cluster of the most famous attractions in Buenos Aires.  Not only is this area the number one tourist suburb in the city it is also one of the oldest neighborhoods and apparently one of the most dangerous….if you wander off the beaten track.

Rosie and The Operator are off to visit Recoleta Cemetary, or as its unofficial, more interesting name is known as, The City of The Dead, in the suburb of Recoleta in Buenos Aires. 

Avenida de Mayo is not only beautiful in its own right but this street is also very politically symbolic to the city. This is the avenue that connects the famous Casa Rosada, the government house at one end, with the Palace of Congress at the other end of its long length.

Rosie and The Operator are leaving Buenos Aires for a few days and heading to the town of Tigre an hour by train north of the city.  Tigre is the gateway to The Parana River Delta and is a world apart from the hustle and bustle of busy, loud Buenos Aires.

Over a perfectly crafted flat white she recommended we forgo a tourist trip up the river and take the local passenger ferry to Tres Bocas which she described as a unique small town in the Delta. 

Rosie and The Operator loved San Telmo in Buenos Aires, because it was an authentic, relaxed, laid back, old Ma and Pa styled quiet suburb.

Rosie and The Operator love to try the local food when we are on holiday and Argentina didn’t disappoint!
