Rosie and The Operator have got a cracker of a holiday planned flying and boating through Alaska and Driving around The Yukon, Canada for the next 23 days.

Vancouver is an amazing, modern, young and vibrant city.  It is a city that is easily walk able and, coupled with the friendly, efficient ferry system around the harbor we enjoyably covered a lot of ground sightseeing.

Stanley Park is the gleaming jewel in Vancouver cities crown and the number one place to visit in the city where outdoor activity reigns supreme.  Rosie and The Operator are gong to cycle the 12km bike path and walkway that winds around the edge of Stanley Park following the seawall. 

Sam is our pilot and he tells us that ‘today is a perfect day for flying and we are in for a treat as the flight from Juneau to Whitehorse is very beautiful from the air. 

We are driving 533km on the Klondike Highway from Whitehorse to Dawson City.   We will be travelling the overland route of the original gold rush stampeders, crisscrossing the mighty Yukon River as we go and experiencing this beautiful empty wilderness which is The Yukon province firsthand. 

Welcome to Dawson City, Home of the Gold Rush and the most Northerly Town we visit on our Yukon road trip!

Rosie and The Operator are visiting Dawson City, Home of the legendary Gold Rush of 1898 and are going to introduce you to all things Sour today, including the Toe, Dough plus a trip to a couple of cemeteries.

The Klondike Goldfields, yes, Rosie and The Operator are off to explore the valley and creeks that Dawson City is famous for when, back in 1896 a chance discovery of gold in Rabbit Creek, later to be renamed Bonanza Creek, led to one of the biggest gold rushes in North American history.

Rosie and The Operator travel 446km from Dawson, along the Top of The World Highway to the Tetlin Junction where we then exchange onto The Alaska Highway for an overnight stop in Beaver Creek.

We are driving The Alaska Highway direct from Beaver Creek to Whitehorse, a total distance of 450km which we should cover a  lot quicker than yesterdays journey.  Its the last leg of our awesome 1600km journey around the Yukon and guess what?  It snowed last night, what a trip it was!

Rosie and The Operator have come full circle as we roll back into Whitehorse the Gateway to the Yukon, after having started and now finished our epic 1650km road trip here, in this beautiful town.

Welcome to Whistler, a ski resort nestled between mountains and just a two hour drive out of Vancouver.  Did you know this ‘ski’ town is busier in the summer than in the winter?  Out of the 3 million visitors that visit Whistler annually 55% come in the summer and 45% in the winter, who would have thought.

Rosie is venturing out on a solo excursion to ride the Whistler Peak 2 Peak Gondola which spans the valley linking the Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains.  This ride is listed as a must do in Whistler and the views are supposed to be epic.  This will be Rosie’s only foray onto the mountains of this famed ski resort so she cant wait to see what all of the fuss is about.

Rosie and The Operator are doing a bit of exploring outside Whistler and will introduce you to the early morning frozen, Lake Joffre, show you the bald eagles basking in the sun riverside in Squamish and let you laugh as we try our hand at the very Canadian sport of axe throwing.
