Rosie and The Operator are off after a wee hiatus. The European spring time is bekoning and a 5 week adventure is about to begin!  After much deliberation Rosie has made a life altering decision……her beloved Digital SLR Nikon camera, which must have captured over 50,000 memories and treasured moments  over the years…..is staying at home.

The Operator is over the moon with joy. It is he who carries the large kitbag full of chargers and memory cards in his suitcase.  It is The Operator who carries the large bulky camera itself in his backpack when we venture forth on holiday excursions. It is The Operator who hauls said camera out of said backpack and slaps it into Rosie’s hand with operating room speed and precision so Rosie can document a moment in time before handing it back like a relay runners baton for The Operator to carry.  My beautiful 28-210mm lens capability is magnificent but cumbersome.

Rosie has made a bold decision….a life altering decision….a decision she hopes she will not regret.  Rosie is going to take all of her European holiday photos on her iphone5s. Small, compact and equipped with a string to hang from her neck Rosie will carry her own camera….for the first time ever.  Rosie has officially joined the ranks of all the tourists she has mocked in the past for pulling out phones and small mini cameras to click there holiday snaps….Rosie is swapping the comfort of her viewfinder for the hands out in front stance framing her pictures from the screen.  May the holiday photo Gods smile on Rosie….RIP Nikon, Rosie will miss the comforting beep of the ‘infocus’ sensor.
PS. The phone still looks better than using the iPad as a camera…..now those people queuing up to take photos with their giant screens just look plain stupid!
