WOW!! What a discovery! You know how much Rosie loves her Street Art and this cache all contained within a block radius is the mother lode in both quantity and quality. The good news! Its all with in walking distance on the outer reaches of Rosie’s Neighborhood. What a treasure trove, just mere steps away from the Plaza de la Victoria.
It was a great way to spend a couple of hours wandering around. This area is not listed in any Street Art guides to Malaga…you saw it here first and it will blow your mind.
Check out the art in the Calle Lagunillas and Calle Altozano area, just wander, the twists, turns and stairways, streets and alleyways, they are amazing. Rosie did this exploration on her own, the roads are quiet and she never got a second glance from any passers by. The general area is a little rougher than normal, but, don’t be alarmed, Rosie felt quite safe on the morning she spent there.
In awe Rosie went back to excitedly tell The Cafe Chums about her discovery. Well they sat there and clucked their tongues, rolled their eyes and shook their heads in despair. The debate raged hotly, over our afternoon vermouth. No they claimed, you cannot call this art Rosie because they have been made with a spray can. The works are not permanent, and hold no real artistic merit or context. This is graffiti pure and simple, which is NOT art, it is just destructive vandalism.
You decide…Rosie thinks it is pretty amazing and, while she listened to the opinions of the seventy year old Cafe Chums….well, Rosie will beg to differ by calling it a large generational gap difference of opinion.
