Rosie is staying in Montenegro for one month solo when The Operator goes back to work in New Zealand.
Montenegro? It sounds so tropical island straight out of the Caribbean doesn’t it? Where did you say it was in the world?
Well, Rosie had never heard of this country either until a couple of years ago when she saw a picture of it on her Auntys Facebook site. That one picture of soaring mountains enclosing and dwarfing a fjord like bay of dark grey water that just went on forever was mesmerizing. The angle of the picture was taken high up on the mountain somewhere looking down on an ancient orange roofed town built right on the edge of the water at the end of the horseshoe bay seemingly in the middle of nowhere surrounded by lush green. That picture has always resonated with Rosie as such a beautiful looking place, she filed it away in the back of her mind. Montenegro……sounds so romantic, but Rosie still cant imagine where it is in the world.
It wasn’t until Rosie was planning their holiday in Croatia that she came across this mysterious place, well I’ll be jiggered, there’s Montenegro, right at the bottom of and next door neighbor of Croatia.
That’s it, Rosie decided, that’s where I will stay for my month…..based on one photograph from Facebook and handy location proximity to where we would be at the time.
Turns out after googling Best Places to Visit in Montenegro, that one picture I had seen was of a town called Kotor right at the very end of the Bay of Kotor.
Kotor came out tops in all searches of where to stay in Montenegro and it was a nice easy 1 hourish drive from Dubrovnik, our last stop in Croatia. So on that scant information, rashly and immediately Rosie booked an apartment in Kotor for 36 days.
