Rosie has been having teeth gnashing troubles with her access to the World Wide Web. My portal has been sitting dormant in the corner of the lounge. Rosie feels isolated and somehow empty not being able to peruse the global highway for this and that. This self imposed shut down is entirely due to Rosies elevated blood pressure and increased frustration levels. Rosie has demanded that The Operator gets to the bottom of the fault and fixes the problems.
So while having our weekly coffee ‘catch up’ with my good friend Moley and bitching about how deathly slow my Internet has become all of a sudden and how frustrating it is opening, closing and uploading ‘stuff’. Moley asks ‘it cant be that slow, how long do you have to wait’? Rosie rolls her eyes and huffs ‘at least 8 seconds sometimes, its outrageous!’ Moley sips her latte, shakes her head and says’ you should try dial up, thats what we have’. Rosie gulps like a goldfish…’but thats impossible, dial up dosn’t even exist anymore…. surely?’ ‘Yep, said Moley ‘it takes 55 mins to download a You Tube clip……now that is a true lesson in patience Rosie’.
Patience. Rosie pondered that rather old fashioned word. Its something most of us dont have time for anymore…we expect everything to be ready and at our fingertips in an instant. Yet, Rosie strives to have that inner calm and positive feeling….but it is eaten up constantly by an irksome bug of annoyance when I have to wait for more than 20 seconds at an intersection or in the que at the supermarket checkout….what am I in a hurry for? There is nothing pressing. I have forgotten to be patient.
So, with a zen like ambiance radiating from me and patience re booted into my hard drive I sit before my portal with a smile on my face.
Thanks Moley 😉
