Not much to write home about today…we were looking to go and visit Alcatraz, I rang to make a booking on Day 1 and they were booked solid for the whole week……they do 10 crossings a day on a ferry with 350 people on it at $28 bucks a person……very lucrative. I booked a trip instead for when we return on Thursday the 27th Oct, the day before we fly home.
So, an alternative plan was needed for our new found free day, The Golden Gate Park was selected, this is the biggest developed park in the USA. The 1017 acres of park include 7.5 miles of cycle path, 12 miles of pony trails, an archery range, baseball and softball diamonds, fly casting pools, lawn bowling greens, four soccer fields and 21 tennis courts…….it has a meadow where free range buffalo roam, no shit! It even has two full size Dutch windmills……so, we had a plan to take a segway tour…….when Rosie and the Operator looked out the window, the sky was grey and the heavens had opened up…not a good day to go to the park! It was pishing down, and it rained and rained all day.
So we went out in the rain and headed to Macy’s for the Columbus Day Sale, people were queuing at the door to get in and everything had at least 30% off…the home ware department was awesome! A whole floor was dedicated to Christmas. Rosie and the Operator are open to invitations, its not that far away, whats happening Aunty Cackle, have you made a booking yet?
We have been mooching in the hotel room for most of the day, it was lunchtime, Rosie cracked open a fortune cookie that read ‘you will experience something different’…hmmmm a flash of inspiration, Tacos! They are advertised all over the city and I can never recall having had an authentic one…so I did an Internet search for the Best Tacos in San Francisco and came up with Nicks Crispy Tacos…we jumped in a taxi and were there ten mins later. It was a busy place, Rosie ordered a beer and steak Taco, the Operator went for a Pork Taco, tehee, the owner said I had a cute accent and gave us free corn chips with salsa and guacamole…..was so fresh and juicy! The Tacos were divine, done Nicks style, with the soft shell deep fried with cheese…yumm, was still a huge lunch for $3.50 each plus beer. Still not sure if it was authentic….it did come in a little plastic basket….
Back to the hotel, re packed my bag and checked the maps for our big drive outta town tomorrow….
