The matching Leisure Suit Combos reign supreme here in Croatia… for both him and her. You know, the ubiquitous chav wear as seen as the clothing of choice on those British reality TV shows featuring tenement dwellers.
Down under we tend to call them tracksuits and only wear the tops or bottoms at any one time…Rosie cannot even picture anywhere where one can buy the whole suit! Well, lets face it, Rosie has never shopped for one, never had one and never will.
Croatia however take the humble track suit to a whole new level….these leisure suits are designer all the way. Okay, not couture, but, labelled…you know Adidas, Nike, SuperDry, Tommy Hilfiger, emblazoned down a leg or boldly printed in an arch across the front or back. The full leisure suit monty, matching tops and bottoms with a zippered front.
The woman here rock their leisure suits. None of these wearers have just come from the gym or a work out. Their hair is always long, perfect and poker straight with the low pony still reigning supreme. Make up thick, contoured and enpointe with dark lips. Big sunglasses, super white sneakers, gold hoop earrings and an optional push chair normally finish the ensemble.
The ladies do look immaculate in their tight fitting co ordinates with a crisp white, cami singlet peeping low cut out of the top, showing off the bronzed swell of her bosoms with the zipper placed perfectly just below.
The men however are a mixed bag of leisure suit wearers. some are just as immaculately turned out as the ladies with their big watches, gold jewelry, aviators and short neatly trimmed facial hair with a peep of hairy ankle over a sockless white sneaker.
The rest are just, well, chavvy…baggy bums, low riding to see the tops of their Calvin Klein undies, zippers undone, football shirts underneath and hoodies up. Wearing a leisure suit how it was intended to be worn? In the comfort of your own home, for ultimate relaxation where no one can see you. No, these are lads about town, working their look.
Rosie is kind of mocking this widespread lifestyle fashion uniform of the Croatian Millennial masses…..However, she cant help but kind of congratulate them and be a little envious on how damn comfortable they must be!
