Rosie loves this land of perfection, the standards are high everywhere you look and kind of borders on OCD….but that is too much of a label to put on these gentle, polite and quiet peoples to whom perfection is just a way of life.

Perfection Trees Japan

Perfection is the norm.  No gardens have a single weed in them and every tree and bush is trimmed perfectly.  Everyone is impeccably groomed.  Every man clean shaven without a hint of stubble (Rosie had to tell the Operator to step up to these standards).  The ladies, perfect flawless skin, not a hair out of place or a hint of frizz anywhere, immaculately turned out for every occasion, (Rosie tried to step up to this level and failed).  The children are perfect and well behaved, creepily so.

Perfection Japan

The streets are litter free.  Shop windows sparkle inside and out without a finger print on them.  Window displays and shelves of goods are beautifully crafted and placements perfect.  Every purchase is beautifully wrapped and presented.  Every meals presentation is a work of art even down to a cup of coffee….no drips or spillage down the sides here.  Beautiful perfection is the expectation of everything and it is totally normal.

Perfection Coffee Japan

No one is late for anything, everyone is on time.  Shops that dont open till 0900 normally have a shop keeper in them at 0830 getting everything ‘perfect’ for the day so they need not be rushed.

Rosie watched a kindred spirit  putting up a poster in his shop window.  He used a spirit level (I kid you not) to hang it perfectly straight.  It was a big undertaking to get it just so….Rosie felt his pain in the attainment of perfection and the elation as he stood back, satisfied of a job well done.

Rosie understands the Japanese and loves their perfection.  She would definitely need to pick up her game if she lived here to attain this level of enlightened perfection which is on a whole new stratosphere of expectation from where she comes from.

If only we could all be half as perfect at home…we would have already raised the game from our sadly lacking norm.
